Poetry

Chrysalis

A bird chirrups 'oft near ours,
and like the everlasting stars,

a bud emerges from the snow,
and as my child watches it grow,

the petals fold out one by one,
each bloom brighter than the sun.

A kiss and hug around my head,
muffles words I never said.

A laugh rolls o'er a warming lake,
and all of my life's cursed mistakes

billow back into the past,
and never last (they never last).

Time heals, it heals, all wounds I know,
it blurs the pain. To come, then go.
